Why Bello was denied bail

Judge Anenih ruled that the request, filed when Bello was neither in custody nor in court, was incompetent.

Bello is on trial together with his cousin and two others in an alleged case N110 billion in money laundering charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

As Channels TV reported, it was of the view that the accused’s counsel, JB Daudu (SAN), had told the court that he had presented sufficient facts to grant him bail.

In two other judgments, Justice Anenih granted bail to each of Bello’s two co-accused, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, in the sum of N300 million with two sureties in a similar amount, The Nation reported.
